Surge Performance Training, the total body functional training company redefining the way people workout, announced that its independent laboratory test results will be presented today at the National Strength and Conditioning (NSCA) Conference in Las Vegas. The results demonstrate quantifiable evidence that the Surge360 is truly a strength and cardiovascular training platform – a product that enables both men and women to optimize workouts by burning significantly more calories and reaping a better cardiovascular workout than traditional weight lifting, treadmill, elliptical and bike workouts.
“These test results are very exciting for Surge Performance Training because they prove that our product is truly a game-changer in terms of bringing new technology into the fitness market”
Testing was conducted in Denver, Colorado by MusclePharm Corporation at their Sports Science Center Research Institute. MusclePharm is a company developing and bringing to market the most scientifically advanced, safest nutritional and sports supplementation products possible.
“Our test results demonstrated that with the Surge 360, over the course of a 30 minute workout subjects experienced both strength and cardiovascular training, which can help contribute to better overall cardiovascular health and physical strength,” said Dr. Jordan Moon, PhD, Research Institute Director and NSCA Colorado State Director. “Both men and women burned more calories, had higher heart rates, and felt more fatigued doing a 30 minute Surge 360 workout compared to typical cardio machines or a lifting session lasting the same amount of time. This unique machine optimizes and combines both cardio and strength training— which makes the Surge 360 a truly unique fitness product.”
SURGE 360 MUSCLEPHARM STUDY: KEY FINDINGS TO BE RELEASED AT NSCA CONFERENCE
Results of the independent lab test suggest that by using the Surge 360, trained individuals can burn more calories, reap significantly enhanced cardiovascular benefits and utilize more muscle mass versus typical cardio workouts lasting the same amount of time. Key findings include:
- Burn 49% more calories than typical weight lifting workouts lasting 30 minutes;
- Burn 14% more calories than other cardio workouts lasting 30 minutes;
- Burn as much as 47% more calories than other cardio workouts lasting 30 minutes;
- Burn as much as 81% more calories than typical weight lifting workouts lasting 30 minutes;
- Burn more calories than a 30 minute cardio or lifting workout doing only 10.6 minutes of actual exercise;
“The Surge 360 is a great fitness tool for any serious athlete or person committed to improving their health by working out with a multi-faceted platform that produces results,” said Joe Dowdell, Founder and CEO of Peak Performance. “Surge has developed one of the few machines that forces a balanced approach to the push-pull actions of the upper bodies musculature. The results of this test speak for themselves and for the type of workout you can get with the Surge 360.”
Twenty physically active (at least 2 days of exercise/week) men (10) and women (10) were recruited to participate in this study. Participants completed a total of four testing sessions lasting 30 minutes per session. The four protocols included a 30 minute Surge 360 workout, two 30 minute standard cardio workouts on a treadmill, elliptical or bike and a 30 minute lifting session that included 6 complex exercises. Men completed both treadmill and bike workouts while women completed both treadmill and elliptical workouts.
“These test results are very exciting for Surge Performance Training because they prove that our product is truly a game-changer in terms of bringing new technology into the fitness market,” said Brent Brentham, Inventor of the Surge 360. “Not many fitness equipment companies are willing to put their money and their product’s reputation on the line by conducting independent research studies. But we knew that our ground-based hydraulic resistance platform works the body in a way that maximizes both burning calories and building muscle. We are excited for these findings to be announced formally at the 2013 NSCA Conference so the strength and conditioning community and the broader fitness industry can continue to learn more about our unique approach to training.”
